The hares ear and the wolly bugger is what I tell people to learn to tie first as they are so adaptable and effective. I really tie the Hares Ear the simplest way possible because that is what I believe in. The important factors is to have multiple sizes as this is often what fish care about and have some options that have a little sparkle for the days with murky water or uninterested fish.
